Crissi Gianakopoulos was born in Houston, Texas, to Greek immigrants. Greek cuisine became a very important component of her upbringing.

Crissi's grandmother, a native of Galaxidion, Greece, was very influential in her formative cooking years. From an early age, Crissi recalls the glorious sights and aromas in her grandmother's kitchen. She was in awe at her grandmother's culinary flair, and some of it seemed to rub off on Crissi as she enjoyed cooking and baking with her grandmother for many years.

Being able to pass on the fruits of her family's traditions, while doing what she loves, has proven to be a real joy in Crissi's life.
